Introducing Korean Culture

Before introducing Korean culture and cities to many people, I first had to find out how foreigners think about KOREA at first hand. Therefore, I conducted several interviews and surveys to get answers to the question.

1. The survey from my friend (interviews with some friends)
One of my friends just visited Korea last year. Therefore, I wanted to ask him how was his experience in Korea as a tourist. He told me he feels pretty comfortable staying in Korea and people were generally kind to him. As well,  he mentioned that Korean culture, especially Korean food is really fascinating.

In interviews and conversations with some other friends, I could tell that many people are also interested in the relationship between North and South Korea. It is fairly a political problem and it is well known; however, the viewpoint and mood of Korean people towards North Korea are a little bit different than how the international community (and other countries) view North Korea.

Regarding the Pyeongchang Olympics, some of the friends did not know that Korea (Pyeongchang) hosts the 2018 Winter Olympics. Through the promotion and conversations with my friends, I was able to increase awareness about the Olympics a litle bit. (Still, some people are visiting Korea to watch Olympics!)

2. Survey / Interview with my Chinese Tutor
My Chinese tutor is another person who visited Korea a few times. As well, she is very interested in Korean culture and Korean society as a whole. Comment about Korean people, she told me she believes Korean people study/work hard and generally well mannered. About the Korean society, she believes Korea had a successful economic development and many cities in Korea are well developed and organized.

3. Surveys / Interviews from School Workers
Unlike my friends and Chinese Tutors, our school workers never visited Korea. Thus, I was able to learn how different group of people may feel about Korea. In general, many workers are hoping to visit/travel Korea - which is a good signal! Most of them stated they believe Korean people are friendly (友好) and enthusiastic (热情). One of the comments even stated that Korean people are "乐于助人," which means "to be willing to help" in Chinese.

In general, many people (at least people I met) had a good image about Korea - which is a great signal for Korea tourism As well, many people have basic understanding and interest about Korean culture and societies. Of course, after the interview, I introduced them about K-smile campaign and Korean culture.
