INCHEON

Today, I would like to introduce my hometown - Incheon. The name may sound familiar to some of you and may provide no clue for some of you. However, if you are visiting Korea, you must have seen this name from your airplane ticket - ICN. Yes. Incheon is where the largest international airport in Korea is located. Many of you will have to go through Incheon International Airport to visit Korea.

Although many foreigners visit Incheon for the airport, it is rare for foreigners to visit Incheon for sightseeing or tourism. The reason is simple - because it is difficult for foreigners to find information and plan a trip to Incheon. Therefore, today, I would like to introduce the places you have to visit Incheon briefly. Follow along and if you need more information about INCHEON, feel free to contact me anytime.

Incheon Airport (인천국제공항)

The beautiful buildings of Incheon Airport will be the first place you will visit in Korea. Incheon Airport allows you to take a glimpse of KOREA– traditional foods and (most famous) duty-free stores. Don’t forget to borrow a Pocket WI-Fi (or SIM card) from here!

Ganghwa Dolmen Sites (고인돌유적군)

Ganghwa Dolmen sites are registered as one of the world heritages in 2000. Dolmens refer to the tombs built during the Bronze Age. In Ganghwa Dolmen you can find many “Table Dolmens” that are different from other Dolmen sites in Korea. (Almost 50% of Dolmen in the world are located in Korea!)

Jayu Park (자유공원)

Battle of Incheon was the turning point of the Korean War - Winning this fight, UN force could regain Seoul during the Korean War. Jayu Park is established to commemorate the victory of the Battle of Incheon and the leader of the operation – Douglas MacArthur. It is also the first modern park built in Korea.

China Town (차이나타운)

Here, you can enjoy Ja Jang Myeon (most popular food in Korea) and other tasty localized Chinese foods. As well, you may easily see the Chinese / Japanese style buildings that were built during the Japanese Colonial Era. After enjoying some menu, you can also visit Songwol Donghwa Village nearby.

Songdo (송도국제도시)

Song Do is the most beautiful part of Incheon – there are lots of lovely buildings and parks that will make your eyes amusing. I always recommend my friends to visit Central Park and NC Canal Walk in Songdo - to have tasty foods and ride Water Taxi!

Wolmido (월미도)

Two Things to remember for Woldmido: Wolmi Theme Park and Seafood restaurants (especially roasted calm and raw dishes called Hoe). As well, Music Fountain located on Wolmi Culture Street provides you a great night view. Enjoy Ocean Side of Incheon!

Incheon Navi Park (인천나비공원)

The Incheon Navi Park is where many residents take a rest from the “City side of Incheon” and enjoy nature for a while. You can see a lot of butterflies and beautiful flowers in the park. If you are traveling with a baby, Navi Park is a great place to start!

Munhak Baseball Stadium (문학야구경기장)

The Munhak Baseball Stadium is the home stadium for SK Wyverns (KBO League Baseball Team). If you want to watch a baseball game or want to see how Koreans are passionate about baseball? Don’t hesitate to watch a game at the Munhak Baseball Stadium!

Bupyeong Station Underground Shopping Mall (부평지하상가)

One of the largest Underground Shopping Mall in Korea. The mall is connected with Bupyeong Subway Station (Incheon Line 1). In here, you can buy clothes, cosmetics, and shoes at a cheaper price. (Be careful of its complex structure – you may get lost while shopping!)
