Pyeongchang

Pyeongchang county may sound familiar to some of you and may leave no clue to some of you. For some of you who heard Pyeongchang before, it would be because Pyeongchang is the host city of 2018 Winter Olympic Games - which started on February 9th and lasts until February 25th. Kangwon Province, where Pyeongchang county is located, is the coldest part of Korea (It is not unusual to have a temperature below -5 degrees!). Along with Incheon and Gyeong Gi Province, Kangwon Province is also one of the parts of South Korea that are closest to North Korea. (Still, Pyeongchang is located in the southern part of Kangwon Province. As well, during the Olympic Period, North Korean athletes also participate as a single Korea team. So don't worry too much about safety). Although Pyeongchang itself is not well known to other parts of the world as vacationland, many Korean visit Pyeongchang every year in winter season for its beautiful landscape and interesting attractions. It is even more interesting when you visit during Olympic Season!

Sky Ranch 대관령하늘목장 ( 468 Hoenggye-ri, Daegwalnyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang)

Baengnyong Cave 백룡동굴 ( Gangwon-do, Pyeongchang-gun, Mount 22, Maha-ri, Mitan-myeon)
Baengnyong Cave is 1.8km long lime cave located in Pyeong Chang county. Inside the cave, you may find a great number of stalagmite and stalactite and therefore you may experience the nature in ancient stages of human (Earth). 

Odaesan 오대산 (Odaesan, Gangwon Province, South Korea)
Odaesan, or Mount Odae is located near to Pyeong Chang county. Especially, Odaesan is well known for Timber Walkway and Spruce Woods Forest Walkway. Take a break from the city life and enjoy the clean oxygen from the nature in Mount Odae!

Bongpyeong Mooee Art Center 무이예술관 (Mooiri, Bongpyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang 57)
Mooee Art center was formerly a school which was closed in 1993. After the abolition, many artists, across the genre from Orient to Western Art, gather to transform the closed school into the art center. Now, Mooee Art center serves as the cultural space for Pyeong Chang residents. 

Yongpyong Resort 용평리조트 (130 Daegwalnyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun)
Yongpyong Resort is one of the Olympic stadiums for 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics (Yongpyong hosts some of the alpine skiing games). Yet, Yongpyong is also a great place for the tourist – actually, it is the biggest ski resort in Korea. Yongpyong not only provides ski resort but also provides many leisure facilities for tourists.

Alpensia Resort 알펜시아 리조트 (325 Solbong-ro, Daegwalnyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun)
Alpensia Resort is also one of the Olympic stadiums for the 2018 Winter Olympics. Especially, the ski jump slope inside the resort is the most famous landmark. The ski Jump Slope and stadium is also the home stadium for the K-League Soccer team Kangwon FC!
